Thank you for visiting Welcome PG!

...and thank you for your interest in a more inclusive community!

Welcome PG is a strategic collaboration of community stakeholders, businesses, non-profit organizations and service providers based on a mutual passion and belief in removing barriers to social inclusion.

It was created to enhance Prince George's diversity and economic prosperity by strengthening its capacity to attract, recruit and retain internationally trained New Canadians who have chosen Canada as their home.

Welcome PG provides a forum where employers, service providers and other stakeholder groups engage and share innovative tools and resources to promote cultural competence and diversity in their workplaces and tap into New Canadians' talent.

It is our belief that an effective strategy to address the economic downturn and the projected skill shortages is to ease the integration of New Canadians into our community.

IMSS is MOVING!

We will be moving on January 27th and will be closed, reopening on Monday, January 30th at 1270 2nd Ave

Did you know?

  • That in 2011 9.7% of Prince George's population was made up of immigrants?  That's 6,815 people!

  • That 10% or over 7,000 people in Prince George speak a language other than English or French?

  • Check out this article on Yahoo, what do you guys think?  Feel free to chat about it on our Facebook page!  This is the sort of thing we wish to help combat in Prince George:
    • "Study suggests chances of landing a job better if your name is Smith, not Singh"

  • Here is another article to check out, it is about how a Church in the USA has banned interracial couples.  It is sad that this still happens nowadays, and it's the reason why Welcome PG exists - to make sure our community stays a welcoming and diverse place for everyone to live.

Il Carnevale Di Venezia! (Masquerade Ball) - Saturday, February 11th, 7:30pm

When you think of Venice, visions of canals, gondolas and music quickly come to mind. But just as these are symbols of Venice, so too is Carnival with its elaborate costumes and ornate masks. The Carnival of Venice dates back to the 13th Century and the wearing of masks has always been part of the celebration.

Friends of the PGSO have joined the Prince George Mardi Gras festivities to celebrate with a bit of Italy and the Venetian Carnival!

Unlike the real Carnivale di Venezia, ticket prices are affordable at $68.00 per person (plus HST). Enjoy a Cocktail Dinatoire and dance the night away at the Columbus Community Centre, February 11th, 2012 from 7:30 until late! The committee has created elements of mystique and a password may be required.

Tickets are available at the PGSO office.

We encourage you to explore our website! Please contact us if you have any questions about Welcome PG.
